cuban gestures

This is a study is of the gestures of Cuba. Money, race, and sexuality are discussed daily on the streets of Havana, though the words are rarely uttered. While studying as an undergrad at Hampshire College I had the opportunity to live in Havana and work one on one with the accomplished sculptor Abel Barroso. During that time (2004)  I investigated the layer of communication and understanding that moves below quick street words, the layer of hands flowing subtly, in a society polite enough to hide its offenses.
